deviantHEART Volunteer Guidelines

Interns: 0 / 5

Submit Your Application

 Promotion
deviantHEART is always accepting new volunteer applications. To be promoted to a volunteer, you must first have been an active and positive influence in the community. This does not mean you have to have been a "member" first, but it helps. If we are not currently seeking new administrators, we will keep your note in our inbox.

 Internship
This is a large group on deviantART, which means it comes with large responsibilities. For any deviant interested in being a part of our positive promoting team they will start their time in our administration as an Intern for a minimum of two weeks. Within that time the Intern should decipher the tasks our administration handles and decide which field best suits their skill-set.

:note: Interns are expected to adhere to all Volunteer Guidelines and assist in hosting events for 'hands-on' training.

 Volunteer Expectations
If you are thinking you would like to increase your prescense and positive influence in the dA community (or just in this group), please read on to see if being a volunteer would be a good fit for you!

:pointr: Behavior
Volunteers are the "best of the best" in terms of pretty much everything. We have high expectations for our volunteers and expect those individuals to be positive and helpful in even adverse situations (though we know that extremely adverse situations can make that nearly impossible). We also expect that our volunteers will not abuse the submission perks and have fully read and digested our Membership Guidelines.

:pointr: Chatroom
Our chatroom is :#devheart: and has the same purpose as the group. The rules are very simple: treat people they way you want to be treated. As a volunteer, you will need to be accesible to members utilizing our channel in the event of a dispute. Volunteers are the core moderators for our chatroom and must maintain a stable and unified front for our members. If you are uncomfortable with moderating disputes or making touch decisions, this position will not be a good fit for you.

:pointr: Activities
We do expect that all Volunteers, at some time or another, will be able to assist with our regular activities such as Heart Herald, Heart Art, and I Love. We would also like to see our Volunteers come up with their own activities and contests and host them for the group. If you are uncomfortable being a point-person for any of our activities or for your own creations, this position will not be a good fit for you.

:pointr: Submissions
As a volunteer, you will find submissions popping up in your inbox under deviantHEART. You will need to understand the submission standards found in the Membership Guidelines as well as in the backroom and place YES or NO votes.

As a volunteer, you are trusted with knowing and understanding the submission guidelines. You don't need to ask if something is or isn't okay. Use your best judgement. If a member disagrees with your decision, they can appeal by sending a note to the group or replying on the submission thread.

When voting, please...
  • View the full deviation
  • Read the description if you have a question
  • Place a YES or NO vote

You are not required to leave a message to the member telling them why their work was declined or to the other volunteers explaining your vote. HOWEVER, it is always nice for the member submitting a work to get a reason why their work was declined and is highly recommended that you do leave a comment for them (see the backroom guidelines). If you are uncomfortable with making decisions that can upset people or cause dArama directed at you, this position will not be a good fit for you.

:pointr: Applying for an Internship
YES votes need by current team: 3

To apply for internship, please send the group a note with the following information:

  • Are you a current group member?
  • What positive influence(s) have you made on dA? (with link)
  • List 3 of your own works that show positivity.
  • List 3 favorite works from other deviants that show positivity.
  • Tell us about 1 activity you would like to host.
  • List 2 groups you have been an admin in.
  • How do you feel about being partially responsible for a group of this size?
  • How comfortable are you making decisions on your own?
  • Do you know how to read and edit HTML or CSS?
  • What would you do if a member insulted you or your friend?
  • What would you do if you saw a submission that clearly violated dA policy?
  • How would you react to members arguing on our group profile?
  • If a member asked you to step into a dispute, what would you do?
  • WHY do you WANT to be a volunteer?
  • WHY do you think you would be a good fit for deviantHEART and this position?
  • How often are you on dA?
  • How much time per day or per week can you dedicate to deviantHEART?

I know that looks a bit daunting, but it is much more painless than it first appears. We are not going to decline someone for not knowing how to code, for not having positive works, etc. BUT, we do want this information because, like any other application, it helps us decide who is best qualified and who would most likely work the best with the current team.
